Our 50th Anniversary Season 2024

2024 marks Headlong's fiftieth birthday, and we're celebrating with an incredible year of shows.

This spring we team up with Frantic Assembly at Chichester Festival Theatre for a house party - and you're invited. Playwright Laura Lomas takes Strindberg’s sizzling melodrama (Miss Julie) and updates the action to a teenage rager. It’s about to go down. The House Party directed by our own Holly Race Roughan opens in May.

From September, we hit the road with a major new revival of Lorraine Hansbury's iconic A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Tinuke Craig. A timeless story of pride and resilience, this is a co-production with Leeds Playhouse, Nottingham Playhouse and Lyric Hammersmith, also touring to Oxford Playhouse.

Next you'll find us in Stratford (the upon-Avon one, not the Westfield one) with the Royal Shakespeare Company. You're called to cast your vote in the world premiere of David Edgar's The New Real, directed by Holly Race Roughan. In a year of game-changing elections, this epic, panoramic story exposes how the political fault-line was redrawn. Forever. Will you join us at the polls?

Finally, Origins is back. We have five tenacious directors ready to storm stages in our artist development scheme. We can't wait for you to meet them.

50 years of Headlong. We’re just getting started.
